UD School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy offers information sessions for prospective graduate students
11/26/2008
The School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy (SUAPP) at the University of Delaware will host two information sessions for prospective graduate students on Friday, Dec. 5, in 185 Graham Hall on Academy Street in Newark. The first session is scheduled from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., and the second session will be held from 11:30 a.m.–3:45 p.m.
Lunch will be served for both sessions at 12:00 p.m. to allow for interaction with current students, faculty, and staff. An optional tour of the UD campus will be available at 4:00 p.m., and the SUAPP Graduate Student Association will host a social hour beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Topics to be addressed at the information sessions include full- and part-time study options, integrated and experiential learning, SUAPP’s commitment to diversity, the study abroad program, and opportunities for research assistantships. Research assistants work 20 hours per week in one of SUAPP’s affiliated research and public service centers, in a community agency, or with the Delaware State Legislature in the Legislative Fellows Program.
SUAPP offers a Master of Public Administration degree as well as both a Master of Arts and a Doctorate in Urban Affairs and Public Policy. These programs prepare students for government, nonprofit, and private sector careers in public service. Graduate students in these programs are typically dedicated to making a real difference in their communities, in the state, and in the world.
“We are a community of faculty and professional staff committed to a combination of teaching, applied research, and best practices in our profession,” says Maria P. Aristigueta, director of SUAPP. “The school is a leader in the integration of classroom instruction, research, and professional practice.”
To reserve a space at either information session, call (302) 831-1687 or send e-mail to suapp@udel.edu. For more information about the school’s degree programs, visit SUAPP’s web site at www.udel.edu/suapp.
