Welcome

The College of Education and Public Policy is a college of engagement that reaches out to the community, the state, the nation and the world. We ensure that knowledge from fields such as psychology, education, public policy, merchandising, sociology, anthropology and numerous other disciplines are used to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities.

Our 2,600 undergraduate and graduate students have an immediate impact on the world. Through coursework, research, fieldwork and internships, our students become grounded in the principles of service that will guide their careers long after graduation.

Leadership

Our most important task is to train leaders who will steer our institutions into the future. Our alumni fill key roles in local, state and national governments, agencies, schools, nonprofit organizations and advocacy groups. Our direct service centers provide leadership by innovating and demonstrating recommended practices.

Partnership

We work in tandem with community, business and government groups to achieve our common goals. We are committed to finding solutions that work for the communities involved through the empowerment and active participation of the individuals and groups who are directly affected.

Stewardship

To us, stewardship means the ethical use of natural and human resources to ensure sustainable and equitable communities. We strive to empower communities to meet basic human needs for clothing, housing, energy, employment, health care and education without infringing on the rights of others or future generations.

Does this seem idealistic? Maybe so, but in the College of Education and Public Policy, we are idealistic in our goals yet solidly realistic in our approaches to achieving them. And we’re looking for more bright, idealistic students who yearn to make a positive impact on the world around them. If that sounds like you, we invite you to explore our programs and get engaged.
